New Jersey accounting firm Sax recently unveiled a unique charitable contribution, in which senior tax associate Mathew Giordano was allowed to grow out his hair on behalf of Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that donates hairpieces to children experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions.
Giordano and his wife, both of Woodland Park, began growing out their hair a year and a half ago. By tax season this year, with shoulder-length hair, Giordano asked the firm’s managing partner, Joseph Damiano, if he could continue the process.
“I agreed without hesitation,” said Damiano, per a statement. “Sax is a firm that has always made community service a top priority, and giving back to those less fortunate transcends business etiquette and protocol. I commend Mat’s dedication to this cause and hope his example inspires even more charitable giving among our team members and clients.” Damiano also noted that his two daughters are growing out their hair for the same cause.
“For me, it’s all about helping a child feel good about themselves,” stated Giordano. “The fact that Sax was willing to help me achieve something so significant speaks volumes to their commitment to giving back to the community and empowering their employees to do the same.”
To help with Giordano’s efforts, Sax recently hosted a “Charity Denim Day,” allowing staff to don jeans with a donation towards Locks of Love.
