Brown Smith Wallace’s ‘Day of Caring’ raises over $16K

Top 100 Firm Brown Smith Wallace announced this week that they completed their two-month, ‘Day of Caring’ food drive to support Operation Food Search, a St. Louis non-profit that looks to end childhood and family hunger.

Firm staff was able to collect 9,658 pounds of food – equal to $16,322.02 – which produced 850 donated spaghetti dinners. In all, 70% of staff members donated to the campaign, with another 150 members helping to assemble meals.

“Part of our mission as accountants and advisors is to support and impact the growth and success of our communities,” stated Tony Caleca, firm managing partner. “To know that our efforts will help feed 850 families in our community is humbling.”

This year, the firm packaged meals in their own offices, which enabled more staff to participate.

“I think the results of this year’s campaign speak for themselves,” said Lauren Sanders, human resources director, per a statement. “The changes we made to our program allowed us to increase employee engagement, which enabled us to help more families in our community.”
