The National Association of Black Accountants held its 49th annual NABA Convention and Expo, bringing together more than 2,000 accounting professionals.
During last week’s conference, a group called CEO Action for Diversity Inclusion highlighted the need for more diverse workplaces as part of its Check Your Blind Spots national mobile tour.
Launched in 2017, CEO Action for Diversity Inclusion is said to be the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace, supported by more than 450 CEOs of leading companies and business organizations around the world. The Check Your Blind Spots mobile tour is a multimedia experience designed to help people start recognizing, acknowledging and minimizing potential unconscious bias blind spots. The tour is visiting university and corporate campuses around the country with the goal of facilitating more open and honest conversations in communities and workplaces.
At the NABA conference, the tour connected with members and exposed prospective companies to CEO Action’s pledge. To date, the tour has signed up more than 4,600 participants and hopes to grow that number as the tour makes its way around the U.S. this summer.
