WithumSmith+Brown holds seventh annual Week of Caring
Top 100 firm WithumSmith+Brown recently saw team members volunteer at local charitable organizations as part of its annual Week of Caring program. The initiative benefits local charitable organizations across the seven states that Withum serves.
“This is our favorite outreach event of the year because giving back to local charities is an important part of who we are at Withum. It never ceases to amaze me how the number of charitable organizations is able to expand each year,” stated Bill Hagaman, Withum CEO and managing partner. “In its seventh year, Withum Week of Caring was once again a great success because of the many generous team members who made volunteering a priority and shared skills and talent that extended beyond their everyday professional responsibilities.”
The week sees more than 700 team members provide over 2,500 volunteer hours. This year’s efforts included Withum’s New Jersey offices volunteering at Cheesequake State Park/Raritan Bayshore in Matawan (Red Bank office), Christine’s Hope for Kids in Ewing Township (Princeton office), St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison (Whippany office) and the 16th Avenue School in Elmwood Park (Paramus office). Other participating Week of Caring offices included New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Orlando.

NJCPA donates over 3,700 pounds of food
The New Jersey Society of CPAs and its Emerging Leaders Council donated over 3,700 pounds of food to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and other local food banks in November, gaining on last year’s donation of 2,900 pounds.
Donations were collected via 20 sites and 60 events throughout the fall, with more than 70 volunteers helping to assemble and distribute goods. The NJCPA also hosted its annual “Night at the FoodBank,” wherein society members helped pack supplies.
“We are always pleased with the amount of member involvement with the food drive,” stated Ralph Albert Thomas, CEO and executive director of the NJCPA. “This year’s high collection number gives testament to the generous nature of our members.”
“It’s a wonderful way to participate and see first-hand how everyone can help in a small way toward brightening the community,” said Katherine Zech, chair of the NJCPA Emerging Leaders Council and accounting manager at PKF O’Connor Davies, in a statement. “Hunger is a very real issue and there is a lot of local need.”
