The International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board has announced that it is continuing its search for a new chair, calling for qualified, senior applicants from around the world to apply by Jan. 31, 2019.
The IAASB, supported by the International Federation of Accountants, seeks a new chair to replace Arnold Schilder, whose has overseen the IAASB for the past decade. It was previously announced that Martin Baumann, former chief auditor and director of professional standards at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, would be the next IAASB chair, but a later statement from IFAC said Baumann “decided not to assume the post for personal reasons.”
The IAASB is seeking applicants with significant, senior-level experience who are well-known in the professional and regulatory communities. Qualities such as strong leadership, communication and commitment to the IAASB’s public interest mission are sought. The successful candidate must also be willing to travel extensively.
The IAASB chair serves on a renewable, three-year term. The newly-elected chair will start his or her service on May 1, 2019.
Applications are due by Jan. 31, 2019. For more information and application instructions, head to IFAC’s site here.
