EY elects Carmine Di Sibio as global chair and CEO

Ernst Young has elected Carmine Di Sibio as the firm’s next global chairman and CEO, succeeding Mark Weinberger, effective July 1, 2019.

Di Sibio is currently global managing partner of client service at EY, and he’s held that role since 2013. He is in charge executing EY’s strategy, and last year the accounting firm network achieved nearly $35 billion in revenues globally. Today EY has over 270,000 people in more than 150 countries. Di Sibio has overall responsibility for EY’s four geographical areas around the world, along with four service lines. He also co-chairs the EY Global Diversity and Inclusiveness Steering Committee.

Di Sibio joined the firm in 1985, and has been an advisory and assurance partner for many of EY’s biggest financial services clients. He previously chaired the EY Global Financial Services Markets Executive and was regional managing partner for the Americas Financial Services Organization, where he began EY Risk Management and Regulatory Services. He’s also a practicing CPA.

“I am honored to be chosen to lead this great organization, which I have been part of for over 33 years,” Di Sibio said in a statement. “The role we play in the capital markets and the work each and every one of the 270,000 EY people do every day to create a better working world are things of which I’m very proud. It’s been a great opportunity to work with Mark and the leadership team on the development and execution of our Vision 2020 strategy over the past six years. I’m excited to build on the significant legacy and strong foundation we have here at EY.”

His predecessor, Weinberger, was elected as EY global chairman and CEO in 2012 and was on the EY Global Executive for the past 12 years. “Carmine is an outstanding and inclusive leader who has a foundation in audit and in serving the largest EY clients,” Weinberger stated. “He is a leader who understands the importance of diverse and inclusive teams, and he knows how to engage people to reach their full potential. I believe the organization has made an exceptional choice, and Carmine is the right EY global chairman and CEO in these transformative times.”
