Bohemia, N.Y.-based firm Cerini Associates has announced a collaboration with the Book Fairies, a local nonprofit organization that collects used books and distributes them throughout the metropolitan New York area to children in need.
Cerini Associates has pledged that for every chargeable hour its professionals and advisors perform, the firm will cover the cost of distributing a Book Fairies book to a local child. The firm hopes to distribute 250,000 books in all.
“Cerini Associates believes that its responsibility goes beyond the nonprofit sector and is seeking real societal change through education and literacy,” stated firm partner Shari Diamond. “Book Fairies and their mission is the perfect partner to help us accomplish this purpose.”
“The Book Fairies commends organizations like Cerini Associates for taking a proactive step with corporate social responsibility and making the support of local nonprofits a part of their day-to-day business activities,” said Amy Zaslansky, founder of the Book Fairies, in a statement. “This is a perfect way for all of Cerini’s employees to take pride in their individual and collective contributions to a charity that is striving to increase literacy across New York by providing free books to underprivileged children. We hope more businesses will follow Cerini Associates’ lead by understanding how consumers are more engaged when they have a vested interest or are involved in giving back to their community.”
