Intuit has introduced updates to its Lacerte, ProSeries and ProConnect Tax Online products.
Lacerte now offers a number of new e-filing types, along with 2D barcode tax returns, and 93 new forms have been added to the software, including Forms 8288-A and 8805. Additionally, address auto-filling based on zip codes is now available, which was one of the most requested features from users.
For ProSeries, locking returns are now available—again, one of the features most requested by users of the product. This feature allows users to lock returns from being changed once they’re filed, and to help ensure records are accurate. Also, ProSeries Basic users now have the ability to export all of the information from HomeBase views to a .csv file. This feature was previously only available to ProSeries Professional subscribers.
For ProConnect Tax Online, pros can now batch process the carrying of client tax return data from a prior year to the current year for many clients at one time. Clients can also provide documents through Intuit Link via upload of smartphone pictures or imports from more than 5,000 financial institutions in Intuit’s ecosystem. More features are coming soon; eight source documents, including W-2, 1099, 1098 and K-1, will be supported in tax year 2017.
