Firms giving back: DHG holds 2018 ‘Community IMPACT Awards’

Dixon Hughes Goodman presents 2018 ‘Community IMPACT Awards’

Top 100 firm Dixon Hughes Goodman recently announced the recipients of its annual DHG Community IMPACT Awards, which highlight notable community service from staff members and offices.

“The DHG Community IMPACT Awards celebration is a special time when we come together to acknowledge contributions that improve our communities,” said DHG Foundation president Pat Shuler in a statement. “Most importantly, it is a time to celebrate the amazing people in our firm who work together to make our communities a better place.”

Staff member Andrew Swint was recognized for contributing the most hours of community service last year, spending time volunteering as a refugee mentor for a nonprofit in Charlotte, N.C. DHG’s New York City office was also recognized for contributing the most service hours from July 2017 through July 2018, helping nonprofits including United Way, New Alternatives For Children, the American Heart Association and City Harvest.

DHG honored award recipients in September at the firm’s annual partner meeting in Orlando, Fla. Each recipient was also awarded a monetary donation towards the nonprofit of their choice.

“I appreciate what our firm is doing to support our local communities through events such as the Habitat for Humanity Build, the St. Jude’s walk/run and the United Way annual giving campaign,” Swint said, per a statement. “These events not only bring people together, but help strengthen relationships and serve as a friendly reminder that we have the ability to truly make an impact in our communities.”

“The passion for community service as exemplified by Andrew and the team members in our New York City office goes well beyond the work they do for our clients,” added Shuler. “It truly shows how much they care about supporting the wellbeing of fellow employees, the broader community and our profession in ways that align with our mission, values and strategy.”
