AbacusNext continues growth spurt with Commercial Logic acquisition

AbacusNext, which provides cloud hosting and other technology services for legal and accounting firms, has acquired practice management and workflow tools provider Commercial Logic.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Commercial Logic has developed tools an exclusive focus on accounting firms for more than 30 years, as well as provided consulting services designed to help professional services companies streamline their internal processes. The company’s offices are in New Hampshire, while AbacusNext is based in San Diego.

This buy marks the latest in a series of significant acquisitions for AbacusNext this year. In November, the company bought HotDocs, a document automation provider; and earlier this year, it acquired Cloudnine Realtime, another cloud hosting provider for accounting firms.

“We are so pleased to welcome Commercial Logic into the AbacusNext family,” said Alessandra Lezama, CEO of AbacusNext. “Our shared values and client focused approach make them an ideal addition, and we look forward to augmenting their current offerings so clients can benefit from our broader scope and private cloud solutions.”

“AbacusNext is an ideal partner to secure the continued growth of Commercial Logic,” added Peter Coburn, president and founder of Commercial Logic. “By joining forces with AbacusNext, our clients will benefit from the substantial marketing, engineering and support resources at AbacusNext’s disposal and gain new access to [customer relationship management], business management, and private cloud solutions.”

Separately, AbacusNext appointed a new CFO earlier this month. Mike Skelly joined the company from Trio Health, where he also served as CFO.
