People on the move: UHY director receives Outstanding Asian American in Business award

Marian Shaw (pictured), managing director at UHY Advisors, New York, received the Outstanding Asian American in Business award from the Asian American Business Development Center, honoring Asian American entrepreneurs, professionals and corporate executives who play a role in guiding the U.S. economy. Shaw was recognized at a gala dinner June 20, joining fellow honorees at the 18th annual Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business award program, which accepted nominations from across the country in seeking top candidates that best represent the achievements of Asian Americans in business.

Brian Francese was hired as a partner in the commercial practice at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, New York.

Karen Abramson, CEO of Wolters Kluwer Tax Accounting division, New York, was named the 2019 CEO of the year by the Software Information Industry Association’s CODiE awards for business technology. The awards recognize outstanding company teams, individuals, and leadership for their commitment to the software and digital content industries.

Armie Gartenberg, a principal in the tax business services division at Marcum, New York, was admitted to the partnership.
